When a person has a family history of cancer, their worry about developing the disease may lead to them refusing to have preventive tests. Advice from genetic counselling units reduces their anxiety but, until now, nobody knew how much. Now, a scientific team has validated the 'Escala de Preocupaci-n por el C-ncer - EPC' (equivalent of the Cancer Worry Scale), the first of its kind in the Spanish language, in order to evaluate it.
Eight European research institutes, including Johannes Gutenberg University Mainz (JGU), and three commercial partners have joined forces in an EU project to provide young academics with an outstanding research environment in the field of systemic neuroscience.
With more targeted therapies being approved each year for cancer, the development of drug resistance to these agents is a growing concern.
Expecting new data on drug-eluting stents and transcatheter heart valves to feature prominently at Transcatheter Cardiovascular Therapeutics (TCT) 2009 next week in San Francisco, Medtronic, Inc. (NYSE: MDT), today announced plans to showcase its innovative cardiovascular product portfolio, technology pipeline and clinical research at the world's premier annual meeting for interventional cardiologists.
