The Sacramento Bee: An analysis of financial data from 300 California hospitals "shows they collected $25 billion from insurance companies between September 2008 and October 2009 - an increase of more than a third since 2005. A team led by Case Western Reserve University School of Medicine researchers has made two major discoveries involving psoriasis, a chronic and debilitating skin disease with no known cure.
Noting that former Secretary of State Hillary Clinton in June 2012 "announced a new partnership to address the persistent burden of maternal mortality, called Saving Mothers, Giving Life," which aims "to reduce maternal mortality by 50 percent in eight districts in Zambia and Uganda in just one year," Karen Grepin, assistant professor of global health policy at New York University's Robert F. Iyengar, Ph.D. professor of genetic and molecular epidemiology at Case Western Reserve University School of Medicine, have discovered the first gene associated with the formation of age-related cataracts, a leading causes of blindness.
