From June 2010, Springer will publish Updates in Surgery, the official journal of the Italian Society of Surgery. The journal, previously a bilingual Italian-English publication, is now published four times a year in English only. In preliminary findings, Saint Louis University researchers report that veterans who suffered blast injuries have changes in brain tissue that are still apparent in images years after the blast. The data, presented at the annual meeting of the Radiological Society of North America, represents a small but intriguing look at brain imaging in those who suffered combat-related head injuries.
Scientists have identified a single genetic change in Salmonella that is playing a key role in the devastating epidemic of bloodstream infections currently killing around 400,000 people each year in sub-Saharan Africa.
Yorkshire myeloma patients are set to be among the first to benefit from an innovative Myeloma Clinical Trial Network launched by Myeloma UK.
