AMAG Pharmaceuticals, Inc. and Allos Therapeutics, Inc. today announced that they have entered into a definitive merger agreement under which the companies will combine in an all-stock merger with a total equity value of approximately $686 million.
Low-dose computed tomography (LDCT) lung cancer screening is recommended to screen patients with an increased risk of developing lung cancer, but little research regarding the emotional toll of screening has been conducted. Researchers from Stony Brook Cancer Center in Stony Brook, New York found 43 percent of patients undergoing LDCT experienced elevated distress before screening, and one-third of patients experienced continued distress even after being told there was no sign of cancer.
Antibiotic Research UK announced at its Annual General meeting its first research programme to tackle antibiotic resistant bacteria (superbugs).
The Coalition has promised an expenditure of $50.5 million to take on child abuse in Victoria, if it wins next month's election. The claims made say that the aim would be to try for early intervention, aimed at reducing the rates of abuse.
