Privigen, the first and only 10% liquid intravenous immunoglobulin (IVIg) therapy stabilized with proline, is effective and well tolerated in patients with several primary and secondary immunodeficiencies, according to data presented today at the XIVth Meeting of the European Society for Immunodeficiencies. Results also demonstrate that Privigen offers significant protection against infection.
Following more than two years of unsuccessful attempts to convince the management of Cassellholme Home for the Aged in North Bay to fulfill its obligation to rectify staff and supply shortages, the Ontario Nurses' Association (ONA) has taken the rare step of calling for an Independent Assessment Committee hearing into RN staffing levels at the facility.
In a new study comparing elderly abstinent alcoholics with light- or nondrinking peers, the recovering alcoholics generally demonstrated equal or superior cognitive functioning to those who were not alcoholic.
A CNN/ORC poll detected a slight increase in support for the overhaul, with much of it coming from upper-income and college-educated people. Meanwhile, an NBC News/Wall Street Journal poll found 53 percent of Americans agree with the rule requiring most employers to cover contraceptive coverage.
St. Jude Children's Research Hospital has launched a freely available website for published research results from the St. Jude Children's Research Hospital - Washington University Pediatric Cancer Genome Project (PCGP). The PCGP is the largest effort to date aimed at sequencing the entire genomes of both normal and cancer cells from pediatric cancer patients, comparing differences in the DNA to identify genetic mistakes that lead to childhood cancers.
