New data presented at the European Hematology Association (EHA) 2011 Annual Meeting in London show better control of nausea and vomiting with the combination palonosetron plus aprepitant when compared to granisetron in patients receiving multiday highly emetogenic conditioning chemotherapy regimens - Significantly higher the complete response during the acute, delayed and overall periods.
Cancer patients who are ineligible for clinical trials receive immune checkpoint inhibitors (ICI) at greater rates than patients who are trial eligible despite no survival benefit, according to a new study by researchers at the Perelman School of Medicine at the University of Pennsylvania.
Researchers from Weill Cornell Medical College have published results showing that a new contraceptive device may also effectively block the transmission of the HIV virus. Findings show that the device prevents infection by the HIV virus in laboratory testing. The promising results are published in the most recent issue of the journal AIDS.
Engineered strands of DNA - nanoscale tools called "nanoswitches" - could be the key to faster, easier, cheaper and more sensitive tests that can enable high-fidelity detection of biomarkers indicating the presence of different diseases, viral strains and even genetic variabilities as subtle as a single-gene mutation.
