As a cell moves forward, physical stress on its skeleton triggers molecular fingers and arms to grasp each other in reinforcing links that stabilize the skeleton, according to images produced by investigators at St. Jude Children's Research Hospital.
Strativa Pharmaceuticals today announced that it has entered into an amended and restated license and supply agreement with Swedish Orphan Biovitrum (Sobi) covering the European development and commercialization rights of Strativa's Nascobal (cyanocobalamin) Vitamin B12 Nasal Spray. Strativa acquired the worldwide rights to Nascobal from QOL Medical, LLC in March 2009, which included a pre-existing agreement with Sobi.
Pancreatic cancer researchers at Thomas Jefferson University have shown, for the first time, that blocking a receptor of a key hormone in the renin-angiotensin system (RAS) reduces cancer cell growth by activating the enzyme AMPK to inhibit fatty acid synthase, the ingredients to support cell division.
Commenting on the Group's 2009 performance, sanofi-aventis Chief Executive Officer Christopher A. Viehbacher said, "2009 was the first year of implementation of our new strategy. Major steps have already been achieved in strengthening our growth platforms and reinforcing our R&D pipeline while delivering a double-digit EPS(1) growth".
The Enterprise Center at Salem State College today announced that three companies have been named as finalists in the North of Boston Business Plan competition. The finalists include companies that provide online local advertising, environmentally responsible household products and a solar energy business.
