According to a large worldwide study, the hormone that is produced in the body during exercise called irisin, can prevent and delay the onset of mental faculty decline and Alzheimer's disease. The results of the study were published in the latest issue of the journal Nature Medicine.
Scientists from Nanyang Technological University, Singapore and the Korea Advanced Institute of Science & Technology have identified a new mechanism that causes the hallmark symptoms of Parkinson's disease, namely tremors, rigidity, and loss of voluntary movement.
"A first-time ranking of 54 top research universities in the United States and Canada has found that a miniscule percentage of funding goes to neglected diseases, despite the outsized influence that public universities play in developing medicines for illnesses often ignored by the private sector," Inter Press Service reports.
ValGenesis, Inc., a world-leading provider of Validation Lifecycle Management (VLM) software solutions, today announced that Bayer HealthCare AG has implemented ValGenesis software as their platform for validation process management at their Berkeley and Emeryville sites.
A new study by researchers at University of Maryland School of Medicine has identified promising compounds that could successfully treat depression in less than 24 hours while minimizing side effects. Although they have not yet been tested in people, the compounds could offer significant advantages over current antidepressant medications.
