Screening every woman who comes to a health care centre does increase the number who acknowledge they have been abused by their partners, a new study confirms.
The research group "Estudio de sustancias antagonistas producidas por microorganismos" (Antagonistic substances produced by microorganisms), part of the Microbiology Department of the University of Granada, has succeeded in isolating enterocin AS-48, which could have a medium-term use as food biopreservative.
Patrys Limited (ASX: PAB), which is developing a new class of antibody molecules for the treatment of cancer, is pleased to announce success in obtaining commercial production yields for natural human antibody PAT-SC1, facilitating the advancement of this promising product toward a second human clinical trial for the treatment of cancer.
For the first time, researchers have succeeded in passing an antibody through the blood-brain barrier to act as a tracer for PET imaging of the brain. This resulted in more precise information being obtained than with regular radioactive tracers. The study provides hope for more effective diagnosis of early onset Alzheimer's disease and improvements in monitoring the effects of medication.
Some Ohio lawmakers push back against Gov. John Kasich's move to bypass the legislature to expand Medicaid, and New Hampshire legislators plan to meet next month to hammer out what leaders hope will be a bipartisan deal to expand the state-federal program for the poor. Meanwhile, likely Virginia voters support expansion 51 percent to 42 percent with the divide falling along party lines, according to a new poll.
