While legions of medical researchers have been looking to understand the genetic basis of disease and how mutations may affect human health, a group of biomedical researchers at UC Santa Barbara is studying the metabolism of cells and their surrounding tissue, to ferret out ways in which certain diseases begin.
Promedior, Inc., a leader in the development of novel therapeutics for the treatment of fibrotic diseases and tissue remodeling, announced today that the European Commission has granted Orphan Medicinal Product Designation to its lead drug candidate PRM-151 for use in the prevention of scarring post glaucoma filtration surgery.
The University of Louisville is one of nine pilot sites selected by the Pulmonary Fibrosis Foundation for its newly established Care Center Network and the PFF Patient Registry program. Rafael Perez, M.D., director of the UofL Interstitial Lung Disease program in the Division of Pulmonary, Critical Care & Sleep Disorders Medicine, will lead the UofL site.
