Scientists on the Florida campus of The Scripps Research Institute have developed a new tool for studying the molecular details of protein structure.
Cognitive impairment is one of the neurological effects in patients with hepatic encephalopathy (abnormal brain function due to severe liver disease).
Researchers at Ohio State University gave a battery of simple cognitive tests to 19 first-year medical students one to two days before a regular classroom exam – a period when they would be highly stressed. Students were also given a similar battery of tests a week after the exam, when things were less hectic.
Medtronic, Inc., announced today that it will appeal the $73.5 million jury verdict returned in the U.S. District Court in Delaware deciding that the CoreValve® transcatheter aortic valve system infringes a valid U.S. Andersen patent owned by Edwards Lifesciences.
The first detailed and complete picture of a protein complex that is tied to human birth defects as well as the progression of many forms of cancer has been obtained by an international team of researchers led by scientists with the U.S. Department of Energy (DOE)'s Lawrence Berkeley National Laboratory (Berkeley Lab).
