Baby rats whose mothers were fed a high-fat diet had larger than normal hearts with fewer taste receptors for bitter flavours, according to new UNSW research.
Scientists have isolated cancer stem cells that lead to the growth of Wilms' tumours, a type of cancer typically found in the kidneys of young children. The researchers have used these cancer stem cells to test a new therapeutic approach that one day might be used to treat some of the more aggressive types of this disease.
Burns can be among the most devastating of injuries. Following the formulation of practice guidelines (PGs) that addressed the care and management of burn injuries in developed countries, the International Society for Burn Injuries has updated these recommendations to guide the improvement of care of burn patients in resource-limited settings (RLS).
Elsevier, a world leader in health care and medical publishing and online solutions, today announced that its Journal of Evidence-Based Dental Practice will celebrate its 10th anniversary by distributing a special March 2010 issue on restorative dentistry to faculty members, senior dental students and all dental residents in the U.S.
