A federal task force on Tuesday charged 90 people, including 16 doctors, with generating $260 million of false Medicare billings following raids in cities across the country.

New drug shows promise for Long QT syndrome

Long QT syndrome, which results from genetic mutation or certain medications, can cause the heart to beat chaotically and the affected person to die suddenly. The chaotic heartbeat is due to abnormal electrical activity in the heart. In an electrocardiogram test, this abnormality appears as a wider-than-normal QT interval, a pattern of "hills" in a map of peaks and valleys corresponding to the heart contracting and relaxing.

Palatin receives FDA clearance to begin PL-3994 Phase 2A trial for asthma treatment

Palatin Technologies, Inc. today announced that the U.S. Food and Drug Administration has cleared Palatin's request to begin a Phase 2A proof-of-concept human trial under an Investigational New Drug application using a subcutaneously administered formulation of PL-3994, an NPR-A agonist compound, in development for treatment of acute exacerbations of asthma.
