No one can have failed to notice the austerity measures being put in place across all government departments with "we're in this together" becoming the rallying cry of the coalition government. In the spirit of this, the National Rheumatoid Arthritis Society are using the occasion of World Arthritis Day on the 12th October to publish their new Responsibility Deal, demonstrating that as well as rights, patients also have responsibilities, as do all those involved in the health, social care and policy making process.
There is a lack of data relating to the risk of HIV transmission from contaminated injections, and this has made it difficult to assess their impact on HIV transmission in the region.
Ipsen today announced top line results of GuidAge®, the longest (5 years) and largest (2,854 subjects) European study in the prevention of Alzheimer's Dementia (AD). This trial was conducted according to the most stringent international standards. The aim of this study was to assess the efficacy of a 5-year treatment with EGb 761® in the prevention of Alzheimer's Dementia in a population of elderly aged 70 or more, with memory complaint spontaneously expressed to their family physician and who lived at home at the inclusion in the study.
A new study by Johns Hopkins researchers links a well-known cell communication pathway called Notch to one of the most common - but overall still rare - brain tumors found in children.
A recent study accepted for publication in Molecular Endocrinology, a journal of The Endocrine Society, found that perinatal exposure to environmentally relevant doses of bisphenol A (BPA) alters long-term hormone response and breast development in mice that may increase the propensity to develop cancer.
