The national #KnowBetterDoBetter movement led by the Black AIDS Institute (BAI) is coming to Houston and the message is loud and clear- we can end the AIDS epidemic if we fully engage non-medical workers on the frontline of the battle with greater knowledge and skills.
Staggering statistic: cancer kills more people every year than AIDS, tuberculosis and malaria combined. Joining more than 250 advocates from around the world, Adam Garone, co-founder and CEO of Movember, the world's largest charity for men's health, will present at the LIVESTRONG Global Cancer Summit in Dublin, Ireland, August 24 - 26.
In the past decade, scientists have made significant progress building the critical knowledge and infrastructure needed to identify and develop novel tuberculosis (TB) vaccine candidates and move the most promising ones into human clinical trials. The results of those trials, coupled with advances from other TB studies, have paved the way for the next 10 years of research on TB vaccines, a critical component of TB control efforts, note scientists at the National Institute of Allergy and Infectious Diseases (NIAID), part of the National Institutes of Health.
More than 1,000 people showed up at a Pennsylvania community college auditorium that seated only 250 to tell Sen. Arlen Specter what they thought of the plan to reform health care in America, and much of it was negative and "seething with frustration," The New York Times reports.
A team of seven researchers collaborating from United States and Britain have found a way to use gene therapy to cure a rare form of childhood blindness that occurs due to a genetic predisposition.
