A new screening tool for the general practitioner effectively identifies patients at risk for hereditary breast cancer, according to a new study.
New research from a randomized clinical trial published today in The Lancet and funded by the National Institute for Health Research shows that partial knee replacements (PKR) are as good as total knee replacements (TKR), whilst being more cost effective.
Catalyst Pharmaceutical Partners, Inc. today announced that the European Patent Office (EPO) granted to Brookhaven Science Associates/Brookhaven National Laboratory (Brookhaven) a European patent for the use of vigabatrin for the prevention of addiction to opioids (e.g., oxycodone, hydrocodone) used in pain management.
RetroVirox, Inc., a biotechnology company specializing in the development of novel antivirals, announced today that it has received a grant award of $296,875 from the National Institute of Allergy and Infectious Disease (NIAID), of the National Institutes of Health (NIH). This is the second award to RetroVirox from the NIH in less than six months. In March 2009 the company received its first grant to develop novel inhibitors of HIV entry.
Low core strength and female gender are both associated with increased risk for anterior cruciate ligament injury in adolescent competitive ski racers, show study results.
