Patients with chronic hepatitis C and advanced liver disease who drink three or more cups of coffee per day have a 53% lower risk of liver disease progression than non-coffee drinkers according to a new study led by Neal Freedman, Ph.D., MPH, from the National Cancer Institute (NCI).
Sydney-based, ASX listed, biopharmaceutical company, Medlab Clinical Ltd has been granted ethics approval to progress to two separate human trials using its nanotechnology delivery platform.
NUT midline carcinoma (NMC) is a cancer without a cure, and one that affects all age groups. NMC is a rapid-growth disease with an average survival time of four and a half months after diagnosis, making the development of clinical trials for potential therapies or cures for this cancer difficult, to say the least.
Plymouth University has received funding in excess of £1.2M from the Higher Education Funding Council for England to support capital investment for teaching facilities in existing and proposed laboratories, at the headquarters of Plymouth University Peninsula Schools of Medicine and Dentistry (PUPSMD), Plymouth Science Park.
Only one in five patients eligible for a free "midlife MOT" on the NHS took up the offer in the first four years of the programme.
