An innovative use for a known drug is showing promise as an effective treatment for preventing postoperative nausea and vomiting, suggests a study published today in the Online First edition of Anesthesiology, the peer-reviewed medical journal of the American Society of Anesthesiologists.
Successful surgery that leaves no scars has become the main objective of the most daring and innovative surgeons.
When volleyball was invented 115 years ago in Holyoke, Mass., it was meant to be less rough than basketball, another emerging indoor sport that started four years earlier at a nearby YMCA.
A home-based geriatric care program for low-income seniors resulted in higher-quality medical care, improvement in quality of life and fewer emergency department visits, but did not appear to prevent decline in physical functioning, according to a study in the December 12 issue of JAMA: The Journal of the American Medical Association.
There was an epidemic in the Mexican highlands in 1545 and then again in 1576 that killed between 7 and 17 million people. These people had fever and vomiting and developed red spots over their skin before they died.
