The study by a team at Shaare Zedek Medical Centre in Jerusalem, is the first to examine what couples actually did when they learned their unborn child had a condition called Gaucher disease, an inherited condition which can be effectively treated.
Sanofi-aventis announced today a research collaboration with Columbia University Medical Center for the development of innovative diabetes medicines.
DaVita, the kidney care division of DaVita HealthCare Partners Inc. and a leading provider of kidney care services, today announced the formation of a joint venture with Riches Healthcare (RHC), through which a new entity - DaVita Taiwan - will provide services to four dialysis clinics. DaVita will own a majority share of the joint venture entity.
Researchers at Baylor College of Medicine found that while most individuals responded to respiratory syncytial virus (RSV) natural reinfection with a typical sustained antibody response associated with protection, a few individuals surprisingly responded atypically, not being able to sustain the antibody response, which declined to levels that made the individuals susceptible to RSV reinfection.
Scientists studying how genetics impact brain disease have long sought a better experimental model. Cultures of genetically-modified cell lines can reveal some clues to how certain genes influence the development of psychiatric disorders and brain cancers.
