Thanks to a grant from the George Hoag Family Foundation, Cedars-Sinai Medical Center's COACH for Kids and Their Families- program will be able to expand healthcare services to more homeless children living in transitional shelters in Greater Los Angeles.
A team of scientists at GE Global Research, the technology development arm for the GE, has launched a study with Memorial Sloan-Kettering Cancer Center, (MSKCC) one of the world's premier cancer centers, to better understand the early stages of colon cancer. The goal is to yield new insights that improve treatment selection and outcomes for cancer patients in the future.
The cure for polio came as a result of the collaboration between Thomas Francis Jr. and Jonas Salk.
A study by researchers at Columbia University Medical Center and the Mailman School of Public Health found that applying continuous positive airway pressure (CPAP), a form of non-invasive ventilation, decreased mortality in children with respiratory distress.
A parent's struggle with stress or depression can lower a child's quality of life - and it could hinder an overweight youngster's attempts to lose weight, too, University of Florida researchers say.
