Researchers at UCLA have that found states that expanded Medicaid coverage under the Affordable Care Act saw a significant increase in rates of health insurance among low-income adults compared with states that did not expand the program.
Maryland House leaders on Wednesday proposed a $1-per-pack cigarette tax increase to extend health insurance coverage to at least 250,000 uninsured state residents, the Washington Post reports.
The Consortium of Multiple Sclerosis Centers (CMSC) released a white paper, written by a panel chaired by CMSC member Robert T. Fraser, Ph.D., of the University of Washington Rehabilitation Research and Training Center in Seattle, Washington, analyzing patient self-management in Multiple Sclerosis (MS) to develop recommendations for best practices aimed at improving patients' lives.
Coincident with the widespread adoption of PSA screening, the proportion of American men diagnosed with organ-confined, low risk prostate cancer has increased significantly during the last two decades. In a study scheduled for publication in the February 2009 issue of The Journal of Urology, researchers report that for low-income men, the opposite is true, with more men undiagnosed until their cancers had reached more advanced stages.
An aging population and an old health scourge are the driving forces behind two massive open online courses (MOOCs) being offered this fall by the Johns Hopkins University School of Nursing (JHUSON).
