A new report by the Government Accountability Office "finds that state and federal officials failed to detect millions of dollars in Medicaid prescription drug abuse," USA Today reports. "An audit of the government program in five large states found about 65,000 instances of beneficiaries improperly obtaining potentially addictive drugs at a cost of about $65 million during 2006 and 2007 — including thousands of prescriptions written for dead patients or by people posing as doctors."
Training materials that are accessible and easy to understand contribute to an overall increase in satisfaction among adults or parents of children with Type 1 or Type 2 diabetes who use a blood glucose meter, and satisfaction is significantly higher when they understand how to use their meter, according to the J.D. Power 2015 U.S. Blood Glucose Meter Satisfaction Study.
The Palo Alto City Council today voted unanimously to certify the Final Environmental Impact Report (FEIR), grant land use approvals and execute a Development Agreement with Stanford Hospital & Clinics, Lucile Packard Children's Hospital and Stanford University, including a $175 million community benefits package as part of the Renewal Project.
Research released in the December 2009 issue of the Journal of Thoracic Oncology sought to determine whether the survival improvement among patients with metastatic lung cancer has improved over the last two decades as reported in controlled clinical trials.
New proposals to reduce the risk of anaesthetic tubing becoming blocked during operations, were published today. Following 11 similar NHS cases where tubing had become blocked, the Chief Medical Officer, Sir Liam Donaldson set up an Expert Group in July 2002 to look into the issue.
