Genetic screening services for rural and underserved populations will expand from six to 22 counties in North Texas under a $1.5 million grant from the Cancer Prevention and Research Institute of Texas to UT Southwestern Medical Center.
An analysis of randomized controlled trials indicates that use of the cancer drug bevacizumab is associated with an increased risk of venous thromboembolism (blood clots in the deep veins of the legs or in the lungs), according to an article in the November 19 issue of JAMA, the Journal of the American Medical Association.

The investment will help drive further development and commercialization of pipeline products, including the full market release of the Eclipse Soft Tissue Anchor, MedShape's newest shape memory fixation device for soft tissue repair.
