Amylin Pharmaceuticals, Inc. and Eli Lilly and Company today announced results from a study comparing the effect of long-term treatment with either BYETTA® (exenatide) injection or Lantus® (insulin glargine) on overall beta-cell function. (Beta cells are cells in the pancreas that produce insulin.) Three years of BYETTA therapy improved indices of beta-cell function assessed four weeks after discontinuing therapy. These findings were presented at the 70th Annual Scientific Sessions of the American Diabetes Association (ADA) in Orlando, Fla.
Adocia announces positive results from a phase IIa clinical trial evaluating its innovative ultra-fast formulation of insulin Lispro in comparison to Eli Lilly's Humalog commercial insulin. Adocia's formulation incorporates proprietary BioChaperone technology which enables accelerated absorption of prandial insulins. Humalog, which is now off-patent, has annual sales of USD 2.6 billion.
In an ongoing effort to combat the rise in wandering-related tragedies and deaths within the Autism Spectrum Disorder community, the National Autism Association announced today its launch of the "Big Red Safety Box Program" made possible by a generous grant from the American Legion Child Welfare Foundation.
