After a decade of providing vital services to people with some of the most challenging behaviors and needs, Sierra Vista Developmental Center in Yuba City is scheduled to close its doors December 18.
Today the Roskamp Institute said that it is pleased to announce that it will soon begin clinical trials of RCP-006, a compound found in tobacco, for the treatment of Alzheimer's disease.
"It's in their genes" is a common refrain from scientists when asked about factors that allow centenarians to reach age 100 and beyond. Up until now, research has focused on genetic variations that offer a physiological advantage such as high levels of HDL cholesterol. But researchers at Albert Einstein College of Medicine and Ferkauf Graduate School of Psychology of Yeshiva University have found that personality traits like being outgoing, optimistic, easygoing, and enjoying laughter as well as staying engaged in activities may also be part of the longevity genes mix.
A pioneering food supplement that protects the eye from damage caused by diabetes will be showcased at Expopharm 2017 - Europe's leading pharmaceutical exhibition.
