A new national study done by researchers at Boston University School of Medicine and Boston Medical Center showed large differences in the emergency department and hospital destinations of minority (Black and Hispanic) patients who are transported by emergency medical services when compared with their non-Hispanic white counterparts.
Hospira today announced that Inflectra (infliximab), the first monoclonal antibody (mAb) biosimilar therapy, has been registered in Australia. This registration paves the way for the Federal Government to reduce the cost of some of the most expensive medicines on the Pharmaceutical Benefits Scheme (PBS).
Noting World Bank President Jim Yong Kim at the World Knowledge Forum last month "spoke of the need to 'lay the foundations for a new field that will collect and distribute practical knowledge that countries can use to get delivery right in their unique contexts,'" Wolfgang Munar, a senior program officer in the Family Health Division at the Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation, and Larry Prusak, an advisor on knowledge networks for the Foundation, examine in the organization's "Impatient Optimists" blog why "practical knowledge is a topic worth exploring and better understanding for business, governments and philanthropies."
Alexza Pharmaceuticals, Inc. announced today that it has received a Complete Response Letter (CRL) from the U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) regarding its New Drug Application (NDA) for ADASUVE (loxapine) inhalation powder, 5 mg and 10 mg.
In a recent review in Environmental Science and Pollution Research, Italian researchers focused on "the evidence that correlates the degree and type of pollution with the increased susceptibility of many countries to this pandemic and proposes human semen as an early marker of the environmental health and the general health of individuals." Their observations are based on a robust body of experimental evidence.
