More than $18 million in grants to spur the development of a third generation of DNA sequencing technologies was announced today by the National Human Genome Research Institute (NHGRI). The new technologies will sequence a person's DNA quickly and cost-effectively so it routinely can be used by biomedical researchers and health care workers to improve the prevention, diagnosis and treatment of human disease.
A reproductive hormone helps regulate food intake and energy metabolism without causing adverse effects, a new animal study finds. The results will be presented Monday at The Endocrine Society's 94th Annual Meeting in Houston.
The Center for Reproductive Rights issued the following statement from Nancy Northup, president of the Center for Reproductive Rights, in response to the FDA announcement regarding Plan B.
A study performed by an international team led by the Barcelona Institute for Global Health (ISGlobal), a center supported by the "la Caixa" Foundation, reports a link between exposure to blue light at night and higher risk of developing breast and prostate cancer.
A new study by researchers at Weill Cornell Medical College shows combining two already-FDA approved drugs may offer a new and potent punch against diseases in which blood vessel growth is abnormal - such as cancer, diabetic retinopathy, macular degeneration and rheumatoid arthritis.
