The use of ultrasound-guided surgery to remove tumours from women who have palpable breast cancer is much more successful than standard surgery in excising all the cancerous tissue while sparing as much healthy tissue as possible, according to the results of a randomised controlled trial.
The Atlanta Journal-Constitution reports that Georgia's three physician members of Congress have been particularly active in the push to take apart the health law. Meanwhile, later this week, the abortion debate is likely to again take center stage in the House of Representatives.
Soon, Congress may vote on whether to require the Medicare system to negotiate lower prices for medicines taken by millions of seniors enrolled in Medicare Part D prescription drug plans.
"The former head of the U.N. in Sudan has criticized non-governmental organizations (NGOs) for failing to campaign for aid to flow to people trapped in a war zone on the border with South Sudan," the Guardian reports.
