Health Sciences South Carolina (HSSC), today announced that it has selected Recombinant Data Corp. and Sun Microsystems, Inc. to collaborate on the Health Sciences South Carolina Integrated Platform for Research (HS-SCIPR), an unprecedented statewide initiative for translational research and quality improvement.
The results of preclinical studies by investigators at the Medical University of South Carolina (MUSC) reported in the April 2016 issue of Translational Research suggest that the M10 peptide could help protect against fibrotic damage in patients with systemic sclerosis, particularly in those who develop interstitial lung diseases (ILD), its deadliest complication.
Inter Press Service interviews Maria Guadalupe Guzman, head of the Pedro Kouri Institute (IPK) Department of Virology and director of the PAHO/WHO Collaborating Centre for the Study of Dengue and its Vector, who is leading of a team of Cuban researchers working to develop a vaccine against dengue.
