Two years after the Food and Drug Administration Amendments Act of 2007 gave FDA new powers to require Risk Evaluation and Mitigation Strategies for higher risk drugs and biologics, a new report concludes that an optimal future for REMS is possible if the agency adopts a systems approach when designing REMS programs and takes advantage of new technologies - from electronic medical records to genetic testing - that are changing the way medicine is practiced.
Royal Philips today announced its participation in the American College of Cardiology Conference Annual Meeting in Washington, D.C., where it will present the innovative imaging and informatics solutions that are helping clinicians deliver timely diagnoses and minimally-invasive treatments to a growing cardiovascular patient population.
Sudden infant death syndrome (SIDS) has been a cause for concern for a while now. The New Zealand Cot Study and European data in the 1990's had found that sleeping in prone position was dangerous for infants.
Two thirds of all Australian adults are overweight or obese leading to more than one disease complications such as a diabetes and heart disease. Memorial Sloan-Kettering Cancer Center (MSKCC) researchers have found that melanoma patients with a family history of melanoma and/or dysplastic nevi (abnormal moles) are at high risk of developing multiple primary melanomas (MPM). Researchers recommend more intensive follow up for these high-risk patients.
