CEL-SCI Corporation announced today it has received approval from the North Mississippi Health Services Institutional Review Board ("IRB") to begin enrollment of subjects for a Phase III clinical trial of Multikine®, the Company's flagship immunotherapy developed as a first-line standard of care in treating head and neck cancer. An IRB is a group formally designated by an institution to review and monitor research involving human subjects and to ensure protection of their rights and welfare.
Zargis Medical Corp., a majority-owned subsidiary of Speedus Corp., today announced that it launched the live-streaming version of its ZargisTelemed™ platform at last week's American Telemedicine Association Conference (ATA) in San Antonio, TX. The system allows healthcare professionals to share stethoscope sounds in real-time with colleagues located anywhere in the world through the Internet or a private network. This technology is cleared for sale in the U.S. and 36 other countries.
Advocates of reauthorizing and expanding SCHIP "are warily training their eyes on next year with a mix of anticipation and anxiety" as it seems unlikely that there will be another vote on the legislation during the current congressional session, CongressDaily reports (Edney, CongressDaily, 9/15).

Researchers at the medical university Karolinska Institutet have created a genetically modified mouse in which certain neurons can be activated by blue light. Shining blue light on brainstems or spinal cords isolated from these mice produces walking-like motor activity. The findings, which are published in the scientific journal Nature Neuroscience, are of potential significance to the recovery of walking after spinal cord injury.
