In honor of Pain Awareness Month, the American Pharmacists Association (APhA) encourages patients to have an open discussion with their pharmacist about their pain and the medications they take for pain.

A diet high in cholesterol, fat and sugar may influence the development of Alzheimer's disease in people who carry the ApoE4 gene, a leading risk factor for the memory-erasing disease, indicates a new USC study.
Echoing recent FDA warnings, a research group from Northern Ireland cautions against over-aggressive use of a group of drugs called "erythropoiesis-stimulating agents" (ESAs) to treat anemia in some cancer patients, according to a commentary in the April issue of The Oncologist, published by AlphaMed Press.
Ten McGill University researchers received an important boost today, by way of the announcement of $1.7 million in new funding awarded through the Canada Foundation for Innovation's Leaders Opportunity Fund. "CFI investments are critical for our research leaders, to ensure that their research remains innovative and second to none," said Dr. Rima Rozen, Interim Vice-Principal (Research and International Relations) at McGill.
