When the 12-year-old athlete felt tightness in the back of his thigh while sprinting at track practice, he and his parents thought he pulled a hamstring and assumed it would heal with limited exercise time.
New research led by NYU Langone Medical Center has uncovered why a particular strain of Staphylococcus aureus - known as HA-MRSA - becomes more deadly than other variations. These new findings open up possible new pathways to vaccine development against this bacterium, which the Centers for Disease Control and Preventions says accounts for over 10,000 deaths annually, mostly among hospital patients.
Fifteen minutes of daily exercise is associated with a 22% lower risk of death and may be a reasonable target for older adults, reveals research presented today at the EuroPRevent 2016 meeting by Dr David Hupin, a physician in the Department of Clinical and Exercise Physiology, University Hospital of Saint-Etienne in Saint-Etienne, France.
Americans overwhelmingly support meaningful medical liability reform and agree that changes to our nation's broken medical liability system should be included in health care reform legislation passed by the Congress, according to a new poll released today by the Health Coalition on Liability and Access.
