Unetixs Vascular is a leader in products aimed at the detection of peripheral arterial disease (PAD), a condition that is affecting a growing portion of the population in both the developed world and in emerging economies.
Valeant Pharmaceuticals International, Inc. and Sprout Pharmaceuticals, Inc. today announced that they have entered into a definitive agreement under which a wholly-owned subsidiary of Valeant will acquire Sprout, on a debt-free basis, for approximately $1 billion in cash, plus a share of future profits based upon the achievement of certain milestones.
The Centers for Disease Control estimate that more than two million people in the United States are affected annually by hospital-acquired infections. Meanwhile, a report released in April by the Agency for Healthcare Research and Quality concluded that this problem, which is worsening, requires urgent attention.
A multicenter international study chaired by a Joslin Diabetes Center investigator and reported in the July issue of the American Diabetes Association's journal Diabetes brings hopeful news to the 18 million people in the United States - and millions more worldwide - with type 1 or type 2 diabetes.
