Takeda Pharmaceutical Company Limited and Resolve Therapeutics, LLC today jointly announced that they have entered into a partnership to develop compounds for the treatment of lupus (also known as Systemic Lupus Erythematosus, or SLE) and other autoimmune diseases.
Identifying diseases at an early, presymptomatic stage may offer the best chance for establishing proper treatment and improving patient outcomes. A new technique known as immunosignaturing harnesses the human immune system as an early warning sentry-one acutely sensitive to changes in the body that may be harbingers of illness.
Commenting on Edward Boyden's article, Ben Barres, Head of the Neuronal & Glial Cell Biology Section of Faculty of 1000 and Professor at Stanford University School of Medicine said: "There will probably be a Nobel prize for optogenetics someday as it has revolutionized our attempts to understand how the brain works. This article provides a fascinating insight into the birth of optogenetics and the roles of the major players."
Women who attain menopause between the age of 40 and 50 years need to watch out for cardiovascular disease (CVD), the risk being almost doubled in some groups of women according to a new University of Queensland study published October 3, 2019, in The Lancet Public Health. In absolute terms, the risk increased by 40% to 88% depending on the age of early menopause.
