A new study reports that the Johnson and Johnson vaccine against COVID-19 shows enhanced efficacy when administered to individuals with pre-existing antibodies.
A study published in the current issue of Psychotherapy and Psychosomatics reports on a long term extensive experience of treatment of psychosomatic symptoms related to anxiety in German psychosomatic units.
An expert task force has created a new definition for epilepsy that refines the scope of patients diagnosed with this brain disease. The study published in Epilepsia, a journal published by Wiley on behalf of the International League Against Epilepsy, provides a greater level of detail to diagnose epilepsy by including individuals with two unprovoked seizures, and those with one unprovoked seizure and other factors that increase risk of seizure recurrence.
New research offers a possible strategy for treating central nervous system diseases, such as brain and spinal cord injury, brain cancer, epilepsy, and neurological complications of HIV. The experimental treatment method allows small therapeutic agents to safely cross the blood-brain barrier in laboratory rats by turning off P-glycoprotein, one of the main gatekeepers preventing medicinal drugs from reaching their intended targets in the brain.
