Lundbeck Canada has made a landmark donation of $2.7 million to support ground-breaking research at the University Health Network to identify biomarkers that will enhance the diagnosis and treatment of patients suffering from major depression and bipolar disorder.
MedCath Corporation announced today the completion of the sale of substantially all the assets of TexSan Heart Hospital, owned by MedCath and its physician investors, to Methodist Healthcare System of San Antonio. The transaction, which was announced in November, and was subject to customary closing conditions and regulatory requirements, was completed effective December 31, 2010.
Archimedes Inc., a healthcare modeling company, announced today that it has entered into a Research Collaboration Agreement with the U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) to develop a computer model of clinical trials evaluating weight loss medications. The model will be used to obtain a better understanding of the benefits of weight loss against the long-term risks of cardiovascular outcomes in patients treated with weight loss drugs.
Chapman University's research on aging and skill development appears as the lead article in the latest issue of American Journal of Physical Anthropology. The study, called "Skill Ontogeny Among Tsimane Forager-Horticulturalists," provides the most complete analysis to date of skill development in a traditional society.
Colorectal cancer can develop for months without producing any symptoms and, as soon as the first ones appear, sometimes the disease is already in an advanced stage.
