Diuretic-based antihypertensive regimens may be preferable to calcium channel blocker-based therapy in patients who are obese, suggest researchers writing in The Lancet.
According to a new guideline released by the American College of Rheumatology and American Association of Hip and Knee Surgeons, the risk of joint infection resulting from total hip and knee replacements can be reduced with careful management of anti-rheumatic medications during the perioperative process.
The public health insurance program for people over 65 typically does not cover cosmetic surgery, but for cases in which a patient's sagging eyelids significantly hinder their vision, it does pay to have them lifted.
New research shows that nearly three-quarters of patients with moderate to severe ulcerative colitis (UC) taking conventional treatments describe their disease as ‘poorly controlled' (continuous or regular experience of symptoms that negatively affect quality of life), with half saying they are somewhat or completely dissatisfied with their current medication; only 1% were completely satisfied with their current treatment.
Researchers present the findings from a 2-year multicenter randomized double blinded controlled clinical study and a 7 year long-term treatment study of the NeuroPace RNS System at the American Epilepsy Society's 67th Annual Meeting.
