A new compound discovered by a team of UC Davis investigators has potent actions against production of a chemical that which is implicated in the development of chronic pain following a peripheral nerve injury in the spinal cord.
A new study funded by Arthritis Research UK indicates that teens and young adults with inflammatory arthritis see treatment as presenting both an opportunity and a threat to their desire to lead a 'normal' life. They describe a wide range of consequences—physical, emotional, social, and vocational—arising from their treatment.
Head and neck cancer patients who receive chemotherapy prior to radiation therapy (induction chemotherapy or IC) rather than the standard treatment that combines chemotherapy with radiation (chemoradiation or CRT) show no survival benefit and are less likely to receive a full course of radiation, according to research from the University of Colorado Cancer Center presented at the 2016 Multidisciplinary Head and Neck Cancer Symposium.
Cancerous tumors are made up of many more components than just malignant cells from the tissue of origin. Immune cells can be recruited to the tumor site and form what is known as the tumor microenvironment.
