That question, posed routinely to residents by faculty members at teaching hospitals, bears some of the blame for the high and unsustainable cost of U.S. health care, writes a leader of the American College of Physicians in the September 20 issue of the Annals of Internal Medicine.
There is strong evidence that babies born at night have a greater risk of dying in their first month of life than babies born earlier in the day, according to a new study published this month in Obstetrics & Gynecology.
On October 2, the Museum of Design Atlanta opened an exhibit called "Graphic Intervention: 25 Years of International AIDS Awareness Posters 1985-2010," which charts the history of the global AIDS epidemic "and how it has affected and continues to shape modern culture, through the posters that helped bring awareness to the world," Lauren Meir, a writer for MutualArt, reports in a post in the Huffington Post's "Arts" blog.
"Thousands of lives and years of gains made against HIV/AIDS, tuberculosis (TB) and malaria could be lost if proportional reductions are made to achieve the $1.2 trillion in spending reductions required by the Budget Control Act of 2011," according to a report issued on Monday by the Foundation for AIDS Research (amfAR), the Center for Global Health Policy's "Science Speaks" blog reports.
