Researchers studying a DNA-cutting enzyme with a crucial role in regulating the structure of genes have discovered a broad role for its cutting activity in driving abnormal genetic rearrangements called translocations that cause cancer, including leukemias and solid tumors.

Scientists described advances that feed into the drug development 'pipeline,' and show strong promise for controlling existing tumors or addressing the pathogen that causes tumors.
In 2011, 6.2 million children in the United States were referred to child welfare agencies for suspected physical abuse, sexual abuse or neglect. Children who have experienced maltreatment are at serious risk for a host of mental health and other problems that can persist throughout childhood and adulthood.
The cholesterol-lowering medications known as statins may improve circulation in the eye, potentially reducing the risk of certain eye diseases, according to a study in the May issue of Archives of Ophthalmology.
