Overweight women are not receiving proper advice on healthy weight gains or appropriate exercise levels during their pregnancies, according to Penn State College of Medicine researchers.
Rutgers University scientists have discovered a molecular pathway in the brain that may help provide answers to long-term memory problems in the elderly and aid researchers in identifying drug-based therapies to prevent dementia.
The nonprofit International Partnership for Microbicides announced today the start of the first clinical trial of vaginal rings designed to slowly release the antiretroviral drug dapivirine over three months to prevent HIV in women.
Most people who experience severe trauma recover their health. But 23 percent develop PTSD, a difficult-to-treat illness that combines intrusive thoughts about the trauma, avoidance of reminders of it, low mood and an exaggerated startle reaction. Which trauma victims will develop the disorder and which will be spared is not well understood.
USAID "is distributing 'hygiene kits' at a Syrian refugee camp as part of a $385 million effort to help those affected by the country's ongoing civil war, according to a statement published on the U.S. Embassy's website Thursday," The Hill's "Blog Briefing Room" reports.
