Study links repeated SSRIs during pregnancy to childhood language disorders
The use of selective serotonin reuptake inhibitors at least twice during pregnancy may be associated with an increased risk of offspring developing a speech and/or language disorder, according to a study from Columbia University.
ARIAD presents AP26113 investigational ALK inhibitor preclinical study data at AACR annual meeting
ARIAD Pharmaceuticals, Inc. today announced results of preclinical studies on its investigational anaplastic lymphoma kinase (ALK) inhibitor - AP26113 - showing potent inhibition of the target protein and of mutant forms that are resistant to the first-generation ALK inhibitor, which currently is in clinical trials in patients with cancer. ARIAD scientists presented these data today at the annual meeting of the American Association for Cancer Research (AACR) in Washington, D.C.

Arizona State Dem. lawmakers push for restoring Medicaid transplant money
The Fiscal Times: "Organ transplants are considered optional by the federal government. And in today's economic climate, 'optional' means endangered. In Arizona, the expenses for transplants are generally covered by the Arizona Health Care Cost Containment System (AHCCCS), or 'Access,' as the state's version of Medicaid is known. But since cash-strapped Arizona is having trouble covering its mandated medical costs—never mind anything else—[some] transplants, among other things, are on the chopping block" (Mackey, 12/7).
