Rhythm presents RM-131 Phase 1 clinical trial results for diabetic gastroparesis at ACG 2012

Rhythm announced today the results of two Phase 1 clinical trials of RM-131, the company's novel ghrelin agonist for the treatment of diabetic gastroparesis, which demonstrated that RM-131 greatly accelerates gastric emptying in healthy subjects with good tolerability.

NovaRay Medical and TRT develop real-time X-ray imaging system using Nethra Imaging's MPPA devices

Nethra® Imaging, Inc. announced that NovaRay Medical and Triple Ring Technologies (TRT) have successfully developed a real-time X-ray imaging system using Nethra's Am2045™ Massively Parallel Processor Array (MPPA) devices. The new system takes advantage of the highly scalable architecture of the Nethra devices by using 13,440 32-bit processors in parallel, contained in 40 Am2045 devices. The 40-TeraOPS system in an ATCA chassis has a sustained image reconstruction rate of 32 slices, each with 1000 x 1000 pixel resolution, every 1/20th second – helping to enable up to 10 times reduction in radiation exposure.

Times of India examines dengue vaccine trials

India could soon become a site for clinical trials to evaluate the effectiveness of a dengue vaccine, the Times of India reports. According to the drug controller general of India, vaccine maker Sanofi Pasteur recently submitted a proposal to test the vaccine to the country.

Researchers reveal ineffectiveness of some treatments in tackling early-stage lung cancer

Researchers from Tohoku University and Tohoku University Hospital have revealed why some existing cancer treatments are ineffective in tackling the early-stages of lung cancer. A team led by Professor Tetsuya Kodama investigated the ability of anti-cancer agents to affect early-stage lung metastatic tumors.

CREST study data published in The New England Journal of Medicine

Data from the CREST (Carotid Revascularization Endarterectomy vs. Stenting Trial) study were published today in The New England Journal of Medicine. In this trial, stenting and surgery had similar initial safety and longer-term outcomes for symptomatic and asymptomatic men and women. Adverse event rates of death, stroke and heart attack were also similar for both therapies.
