Trabectedin may be better than dacarbazine for treatment of soft tissue sarcoma

Janssen Research & Development, LLC announced data from the Phase 3 multicenter study SAR3007, which demonstrated a significant improvement in progression-free survival with trabectedin (YONDELIS®) compared to dacarbazine in patients with advanced liposarcoma (LPS) or leiomyosarcoma (LMS) previously treated with an anthracycline and at least one additional chemotherapy regimen.

Researchers identify a novel source of adult stem cells: Foreign body-induced granulation tissue

In a pioneering new study published in the journal Translational Research, Dr. Jilpa Patel and her research group at Hektoen Institute of Medicine and Cook County Hospital in Chicago have isolated and characterized adult stem cells from granulation tissue in rats. A granulation tissue is a new regenerating tissue formed in response to an inert foreign body placed in the subcutaneous tissue.

Congressional progressive caucus issues letter stating majority of members will only support health reform that includes public plan option

A majority of members of the Congressional Progressive Caucus will not support any health reform legislation that does not include a public plan option, according to a letter sent on Thursday by CPC co-chairs Reps.
