Asymptomatic pancreatic cyst treatment: UCLA-Veterans Affairs research team develops evaluation tool

As a result of improved imaging technology, pancreatic cysts are increasingly diagnosed in asymptomatic individuals who undergo scans for other reasons. And while most of these cysts follow a benign course, a small but significant number are either malignant at the time of diagnosis or have the potential to develop into pancreatic cancer during a patient's lifetime.

Bisphenol A tainted money and receipts

Bisphenol A (BPA) has been found in many household items and other common objects and is known to be an endocrine disruptor linked to infertility, genital abnormalities, cancer and more. Now it has been detected on ‘cash'. Since BPA is used to make plastic, manufacturers use about 8 billion pounds of BPA that is moulded, cooked or poured into toys, baby products and other merchandise each year. On these products BPA is chemically bonded but it is simply applied in a powdery film to paper, making it easy to rub off with a touch.

Human Pheromone Sciences first-quarter net revenues increase 12% to $185,000

Human Pheromone Sciences, Inc. today announced results for the first quarter ended March 31, 2010. Net revenues of $185,000 represented a 12% increase from the revenues of $165,000 in the prior year period, and resulted in a net loss of $98,000 ($.02 per share) as compared with net loss of $181,000 ($.04 per share) for the same period in 2009.
