US researchers report the development of a prediction tool that could help determine neurologic prognosis after in-hospital cardiac arrest.
In response to continued discussion on the validity of the conclusions of the EXCEL trial comparing coronary stenting to coronary bypass surgery, The American Association for Thoracic Surgery (AATS) has released a statement calling for the release of all trial data to help surgeons and patients make informed choices based on sound analysis.
Women with Alzheimer's disease showed stable cognition for a year when a drug that is more commonly used to treat advanced prostate cancer was added to their drug regimen, according to a new study from researchers at the University of Wisconsin-Madison.
Many of the medications used to treat children have been developed almost exclusively for adults and approved for them. This is why pediatricians have been demanding for decades that medications be tailored specifically to the needs of the child's body and adequately tested on children. A regulation from the European Commission called the Pediatric Regulation has set out to solve this problem. Clinical studies involving children should ultimately give way to medications tailored for this age group.
