The Perelman School of Medicine at the University of Pennsylvania has launched the Penn Center for Advanced Retinal and Ocular Therapeutics (CAROT) to build on its previous success developing novel therapies for the personalized diagnosis and treatment of retinal and ocular disorders.
Cipher Pharmaceuticals Inc. today announced it has strengthened its Canadian dermatology portfolio by acquiring the Canadian rights to Vaniqa and Actikerall from Almirall S. A., a Spanish pharmaceutical company. Both products have been approved by Health Canada.
Herceptin has been touted as a wonder drug for women with HER2-positive breast cancer, an aggressive form of the disease that is fueled by excess production of the HER2 protein. However, not all of these patients respond to the drug, and many who do respond eventually acquire resistance.
Two researchers at the University of Kent have been awarded £98,924 by the Economic and Social Research Council (ESRC) to investigate the topic Black Africans in Britain: Integration or Segregation.
