Inhibikase Therapeutics, Inc. announces the launch of an observational clinical study in patients who contracted Progressive Multifocal Leukoencephalopathy (PML), the rare and often fatal brain infection that arises as an unintended side effect of some medications used for treatment of Multiple Sclerosis, Crohn's disease, Ulcerative Colitis and certain cancers of the blood and lymph.
"In an effort to fight the human papillomavirus (HPV), the leading cause of cervical cancer, more than 30 million girls will be immunized against HPV by 2020 with GAVI support, the global health alliance announced on Thursday," Xinhua/Global Times reports.
But a new study by researchers at Loyola University Health System and other centers casts doubt on the TB spore theory. Researchers were unable to detect spores in TB cultures and demonstrated that the TB bacterium doesn't even contain genes related to those needed to produce spores. Researchers also failed to find any spores in frogs infected with TB bacteria, which would have been expected if TB bacteria produced spores in the course of infection.
Getting women to meet the U.S. federal government's recommended level of moderate-to-vigorous physical activity remains a huge challenge. A large new study shows that where women live affects just how likely they are to exercise.
Smith & Nephew plc, the global medical technology business, today announced the introduction of its TRUCLEAR SIM Morcellation Simulator, a highly-realistic, hands-on simulator designed to improve training for gynecologists who perform hysteroscopic morcellation, a procedure to remove intrauterine polyps and fibroids.
