Pew Center on the States report finds Colorado on track in addressing dental health needs of children

Colorado is on track when it comes to addressing the dental health needs of its children, according to a report released by the Pew Center on the States. The Cost of Delay: State Dental Policies Fail One in Five Children, released with support from the W.K. Kellogg Foundation and the DentaQuest Foundation, grades each state's policy responses to the urgent challenges in dental health among America's children.

Viewpoints: Obama overlooking legal constraints on employer mandate delay; Bush's 'unnecessary' heart procedure; discrimination against people with mental illnesses

In his Friday remarks, Mr. Obama also claimed that he had the "executive authority" for the mandate delay. But if he really believes that, then why did he say he would normally ask for a legislative "tweak." Either the fix requires legislation or it doesn't. His comments are certainly revealing about his attitudes on Presidential power and the constraints of the U.S. Constitution. Article II, Section 3 instructs him to take care that the laws be faithfully executed, not merely what he thinks is "the essence" of laws (8/10).

InControl Medical supports urinary incontinence awareness effort of Women's Health Foundation

According to a new survey endorsed by the Women's Health Foundation, a national nonprofit organization dedicated to bringing education, funding and research to the field of women's pelvic health, seven out of ten (69%) American women ages 45 or older may not recognize that incontinence may be a signal of a bladder health problem. To raise awareness of this issue among women everywhere, the Foundation has declared November to be Bladder Health Awareness Month.

Exposure for even fractions of a second to high-powered blue handheld laser devices can cause serious eye injuries, according to a study recently released online in Ophthalmology, the journal of the American Academy of Ophthalmology. The researchers have concluded that the wide availability of these devices, which are often marketed as toys, could lead to an epidemic of ocular injuries, and greater public awareness and government intervention should be encouraged.
